Data Categories

Understand that there are two data categories

Factual cost data that is captured for the reporting system
- Is called a "Cost Class"
Cost Classes correspond to the project's scope
- I.e. to the elements of the WBS
Data that is subject to some calculation
- Is called a "Cost Type"
Cost Types represent cost data
- Modified through successive reporting periods
- As work progresses
