Why have Position Descriptions?
Every position in an organization exists to accomplish something useful
Hence, the holder of the position requires certain know-how, i.e.
- Managerial, technical, and interpersonal skills
The objective is to produce an identifiable end result, in a certain way
In practice, people expect career progression
- So that positions are often subdivided
- Into levels such as junior, intermediate and senior
This progression should be geometric rather than linear
