Understanding "Acceptance"

Acceptance may be variously defined as

• The gaining of agreement by the customer that the deliverables produced by the project meet the criteria defined by that customer [Jason Westland in PM Life Cycle]
• An action by which the customer accepts ownership of a product as a partial or complete performance of an agreement [D04679]
• The formal process of accepting delivery of a product or deliverable [D00005]
• The act of taking custody based upon satisfactory verification [D03972]
