How many different approaches are there to network analysis?

- Essentially there are three different approaches:
-
- Activity-oriented systems, versus
- Event-oriented systems
- Event-oriented systems plus probability

- The activity-oriented systems use either:
-
- Activities as "connectors", or
- Activities as "nodes"

- The event-based approach focuses on
-
- "Start" and "finish" times
- And may involve "PERT"
