Standard deviation

• We are interested in

  • A single value for the measure of dispersion

    • Known as the Standard Deviation (SD)
  • So just take the square root

    • And you are done !

• The "bell" curve

  • The scatter of a real-life sample

    • Typically approximates to the shape of a bell
    • Hence its name "bell curve"

• Given the bell curve formula

  • We can do some fancy math
